We're so spoiled for choice with wedding venues in country Victoria. Some of the most beautiful landscapes and scenery in all of Australia are right here, and you don't have to go far to find it, with farmland, bushland and rolling hills replacing the city skyline within an hour or so of Melbourne.
One of the best things about country Victoria's wedding scene is just how different each pocket of it feels. Head north-east into the high country and you'll find Bonfire Station, a thousand-acre family farm near Taggerty with its own microbrewery, views of the Cathedral Ranges and the option to turn your wedding into a full weekend with on-site accommodation. Out west towards Eynesbury, Warrawong Estate offers a different kind of rustic, an 1850s bluestone woolshed set across 185 acres, all rolling paddocks and that classic country-barn charm. Up around Mount Macedon, the cool-climate vineyards and historic grounds make for an entirely different mood again, all misty hills and elegant garden backdrops. And down in Gippsland, you've got two absolute favourites of mine: The Grove, 60 acres of olive groves and forest tucked into the South Gippsland hills, and Mewburn Park Homestead, an 1850s homestead on a working 300-acre farm near Maffra, all lush gardens, lagoons and that timeless country elegance.

MOUNT MACEDON WINERY
Only an hour from Melbourne yet worlds away. In terms of atmosphere, views & genuinely good country vibes.
The grounds of the property are that big and varied. I could photograph 50 weddings at MMW, and use a different location for the couple portraits each time. You’ve got forests, open fields, vineyards & beautiful gardens.
Catering for sit down weddings or epic cocktail weddings, you’ve got it all here.
With excellent ceremony locations in their beautiful garden or rustic shed, you’re all good here.
The best part about Mount Macedon Winery is their staff. You’re treated like family here, no just another number. I photographed the owners Dylan & Elisha’s wedding here at their venue, at the end of 2019. What an incredible day that was.
MEWBURN PARK ESTATE
Located just out of Maffra, a couple of hours east of Melbourne. Mewburn Park Estate is how you dream a rustic country Insta/Pinterest worthy wedding to be.
Set on a 400-acre working farm, with homesteads & buildings on site dating back to the 1850s. As soon as you arrive and drive up the massive old oak tree-lined driveway, you know you’re visiting somewhere pretty special.
The clear view marquee permanently located on-site, makes for a perfect location for a wedding reception, under the stars. And you’re spoiled for choice with the fantastic grounds, where you’d like to hold your ceremony.
